Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology, has said no nation all through history of the world has become great without the application and deployment of science and technology.

Onu made this assertion on Thursday in Abuja when Kanayo Kanayo, Nollywood Actor, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

He said Nigeria must out of necessity embrace science and technology to diversify the economy and ensure national development.
He reiterated that the Federal Government would give support to innovators across the country in a bid to reduce poverty, create jobs and enhance economic development.
He noted that science and technology would be deployed to ensure food security, adding that self-sufficiency in food production remains one of the priorities of the present administration.
He lamented that many Nigerians have lost certain values that made the country great, stressing the need to re-discover those values so that Nigeria could be great again.

Earlier, Kanayo Kanayo, said he was in the Ministry to seek partnership in the establishment of Nigerian Innovators Mentoring Academy, his brainchild.
Kanayo explained that the Mentoring Academy would serve as a bridge between the young innovators and the Ministry so that the innovators could realise their full potential.

He underscored the need for re-orientation of young Nigerians who have lost moral values and societal etiquette.
The Nollywood popular Actor revealed that the Nigerian Innovators Mentoring Academy would be established in the six geo-political zones of the country, adding that the mentoring programme would start with the students in secondary schools across the country.

He pointed out that the values that made Nigeria great had been lost due to quest for materialism and non-mentoring of the youths.

Kanayo then pledged to contribute his quota to the development of the country through youth mentorship.
